Communtiy Meeting on Thursday, february 16, 2023
HFTTA is working on plans to extend the trail south to the Catoctin Furnace. Connecting Thurmont to the Catoctin Furnace will provide a great walking/biking trail for the residents of Catoctin Furnace, Blue Mountain, and Thurmont. HFTTA will be holding a community meeting on Thursday, February 16th @ 7:00 PM at the Thurmont Regional Library, located at 76 E. Moser Rd.
During this open forum, attendees will learn how a group of local citizens plans to provide a safe, family-friendly space to bike and walk.
If you are unable to attend the meeting and want to comment on the project, please go to the Contact Us tab and send us an email.

The HFTTA strives to create a multi-use trail on the old H&F trolley line from Thurmont to Frederick. Our long-term goal of extending the "H&F Trolley Trail" all the way to Frederick would provide fifteen (15) miles of safe, vehicle-free, multi-use trail. We believe that connected walking and biking trails can benefit Thurmont, Lewistown, Yellow Springs and beyond.
The trail is currently 1.5 miles long within the Thurmont town limits.
We are also looking North!
Emmitsburg and Gettysburg are already interested in connecting via trail, and Thurmont could help bridge the gap South to Frederick.
A trail from Frederick to Thurmont, Emmitsburg, and Gettysburg would create a trail with enough length to draw bike tourists from all over the region and enrich our local communities.
Please join us February 16th.
